8 Free Activities in Barcelona
1. The Magic Fountain show in Montjuic
Mesmerize yourself in the beautifully animated fountain, which starts off with music from the 70s and 80s and continues to classical music and then more recent songs. The combination of colors, music and the movement of the water will make you forget all your worries.
The show is free but you could only watch it on some days.

2. Picasso museum
Admission is free every Sunday from 3pm to 7pm, and all day for the first Sunday of every month, as well as the following dates: 12 Feb, 18 May and 24 Sep.
3. Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC)
The National Art Museum of Catalunya shows a collection of Catalan art from the 12th to the 20th centuries, explains for its slogan: ‘A thousand years of art’. It is also a center of reference for Modernism. From the top viewpoint, you can enjoy 360º views of Barcelona.
Admission is free every Saturday from 3pm, and on the first Sunday of every month. Admission is also free on Sep 11 and 24, as well as on May 18, coinciding with International Museum Day.
4. Museu d’Història de Barcelona (MUHBA)
The museum is a series of Roman ruins of over 2,000 years old. Here, you’ll stroll underground in the ancient city, over ruins of the old streets that once flourished after the town was founded by Emperor Augustus in 10 BC. The site was once a part of the Grand Royal Palace on Plaça del Rei. Admission also gives you access to the Capella de Santa Àgata, and the Saló del Tinell.
Admission is free every Sunday from 3pm and the first Sunday of every month all day. Other open days include 12 Feb, 24 Sep and 18 May.
5.Music museum
The Music Museum’s collections includes over 1,600 instruments, displayed like precious jewels in red velvet and glass cases, along with multimedia displays, interactive exhibits and musical paraphernalia.
Admission is free every Sunday from 3pm, and the first Sunday of every month all day, as well as the following dates: 12 Feb, 18 May, 21 Jun, 24 Sep and 22 Nov.
6.Contemporary Barcelona culture center
Spain’s largest cultural centre was opened in 1994 at the Casa de la Caritat, a former almshouse, built in 1802 on the site of a medieval monastery.
Admission is free every Sunday from 3pm to 8pm, and on the following dates: 12 Feb, 17 May (Museum Night), 18 May and 24 Sep.
7.Barcelona Maritime museum
The excellent Maritime Museum is worth a visit. It represents one the most perfectly preserved examples of civil Gothic architecture in Spain.
Admission is free every Sunday from 3pm, and on 18 May and 24 Sep.
8.Botanic garden
On Montjuïc, between the castle and the Olympic Stadium, the shape of the garden’s 14 hectares is reminiscent of a great amphitheatre with preserved collections of Mediterranean plants worldwide and magnificent views over the Llobregat delta, the Olympic Ring and part of the metropolitan area of Barcelona.
