The Ebro Delta Natural Park is located south of Tarragona, practically bordering the province of Castellón. The most important towns in the area are L’Amposta and Deltebre, located in the middle of the Ebro Delta.
Since 1983 it has been a protected area of the Biosphere Reserve, and it is not for less, since the Ebro River is the largest in our country. This implies that it drags sediments and high quality water from the Cantabrian mountain range (where it is born), the Iberian system and collects all the water from the Pyrenees. These sediments are deposited gaining space to the sea, creating a land very rich in minerals, which gives rise to a multitude of vegetation and numerous species of fauna.
Tortosa is the capital of the comarca of Baix Ebre, in Catalonia, Spain. Tortosa is located at 12 metres (39 feet) above sea level, by the Ebro river, protected on its northern side by the mountains of the Cardó Massif, of which Buinaca, one of the highest peaks, is located within Tortosa’s municipal boundary.
Before Tortosa, across the river, rise the massive Ports de Tortosa-Beseit mountains. The area around Mont Caro and other high summits are often covered with snow in the winter.
