Dear Traveller! So far you have only been travelling in space. Now we invite you to discover another dimension of voyage: we will have a journey back in time to the Middle Ages!
Since Catalunya is blessed with several well preserved medieval villages, you definitely need to visit the most famous ones. Beyond the fact that these little settlements are surrounded by gorgeous landscapes and natural formations, they also spread a very unique vibe. On this trip you will actually feel like you’ve stepped centuries back in time!
After leaving Barcelona, our time travel experience will start in a medieval gem: Rupit i Pruit. This town will mesmerise you with its stone buildings from the XVI – XVII. centuries. The stone is so dominant in its architecture, even the name Rupit comes from the latin word “rupes” that means “stone”. Take a nice walk in this special village, cross its wooden suspension bridge and discover its treasures you find at every corner.
In Rupit we will step on a path that leads us to the main attarction of this area: Salt de Sallent. This is the highest waterfall in Catalunya with a total height of 95 m. The most amazing and enviable pictures are taken at this dramatic waterfall!
After leaving Rupit, we will continue our jurney in Tavertet. This tiny village that stands on a cliff 900 m above sea level is declared an asset of cultural interest. Tavertet preserves a lot of memories from the Romanesque which was the common artistic style in the Middle Ages throughout Europe. What is more, in this quiet medieval village you will have the chance to admire the magnificent panoramic view of the Ter valley. This beautiful and peaceful evironment is the best place to breath in the clean, fresh air and to release all your tensions. Tavertet undoubtedly deserves a visit!
