Ziryab Fusion Tapas Bar

Although, tapas are originally Spanish, this tapas bar is based on the Arabian fusion of tapas. Ziryab is a small cosy wine bar with great tapas, located near the Picasso museum in the Born neighborhood. It has a medieval-looking interior with brick walls, beamed ceilings and a mezzanine balcony which is typical of Catalunya. On their menu, you can find local tapas mixed with Middle Eastern flavors to create whole new kind of delicious tapas. Besides the tapas, they also offer an exclusive wine menu, full of fine wines from both the Catalunya region as well as great wines from the Bekaa Valley on the Lebanese-Syrian border or the wine regions of Morocco, who have a very sophisticated taste that goes well with their tapas.

Bodega Biarritz 1881

This delicious tapas restaurant is located in Barri Gotic, nearby the Liceu metro station. Here, you can expect to find traditional Spanish tapas, which are mostly meat-based, but there are also some vegetarian options. A young woman from Biarritz started this little Spanish quant and it grew in no time into one of the best tapas bars in the city. They have especially gained enormous popularity among locals because of its huge portions and affordable prices. Besides, it is also known for serving nice cocktails, spirits and good wines.

El Xampanyet

El Xampanyet, hided in a narrow street in the Born district, is one of the most authentic tapas bars in Barcelona. It opened in 1929. There you can drink and dine with locals in a small cozy interior with marble tables and a zinc bar. El Xampanyet is named after the home-made sparkling wine they serve. This credible bodega is known for its high-quality tapas with good prices. It is not possible to make a reservation because of its popularity and small setting. So be on time, if you want to avoid lines.

Casa Lolea

Casa Lolea can be found in the center of Barcelona, in the Born neighborhood once again. There, they serve a wide variety of 40 different tapas, including cheese and ham plates, bravas, montaditos, tortilla’s, etc. But the big quantity of dishes doesn’t take the quality down. All the ingredients they use are natural and they even make their own Sangria, which you can also buy to take home. The bottle of their homemade sangria contains a nice packaging and comes in different tastes. This little vermuteria, with its handsome red, white and black color scheme, elegant tiled floors and exposed bulb fixtures is the place to go if you want awesome sangria to go with delicious tapas.
