On this trip we are heading to the North and we will visit an exciting ancient part of Costa Brava.
Our first destination is L’Estartit which is a little town and seaside resort of Girona, located between the mountains and the plain of the River Ter. It has one of the longest beaches on the Costa Brava.
Along the long beach of L’Estartit you will definitely find the vibe of your kind. The whole beach has fine sand and shallow waters with swimming areas and various kinds of sport areas but hidden peaceful spots can also be found here, in a site of great natural beauty. What is more, all the beaches of L’Estratit has an incredible view on Medes Islands.
The next city we will visit is L’Escala which is a charming fishing village located in one of the “most beautiful bays in the world”, according to UNESCO. When the Greeks and Romans came to Catalonia, they first made their settlements at L’Escala. The ancient ruins of their settlements you can also see in the Museum d’Arqueologia de Catalunya – Empúries located right next to the beach. The Bay provides unusually sandy beaches for the usually rugged Costa Brava coast. The town is also renowned throughout Spain for one thing: anchovy (the tiny little incredibly tasty fish). Sant Martí d’Empúries is a hamlet dependent on L’Escala, located next to the ruins of Empúries and preserved as a small mediaeval town. It was once a peninsula and received its first inhabitants in the 9th century BC.
Unique ancient history, amazing coastal views, and sandy beaches are waiting for you on this trip! Come with us and enjoy! 🙂
