Barcelona’s Public Transport Ticketing and Fare Structure

We definitely recommend getting a T-jove card. This 3-month card, priced at €42.70, offers significant savings and flexibility, especially for individuals under 30 looking to explore Barcelona’s vibrant streets and beyond.

Bus network

Barcelona’s bus system, the city’s primary public transport network, boasts over 1,000 buses operating on 80 routes. Extensive coverage includes remote areas, with buses running every 10 minutes. Night owls benefit from the “Nitbus” service, spanning 17 routes citywide, often passing through Plaça Catalunya for convenient transfers.

Metro Service

Barcelona’s metro system has 11 lines, 8 managed by TMB and 3 by the Catalan Government. Hours of operation:

– Mon to Thu & midweek public holidays: 05:00 to midnight
– Fridays & nights before public holidays: 05:00 to 02:00
– Saturdays: 5:00 onwards, operates through the night until Sunday
– Sundays: Continuous service from Saturday to midnight on Sunday
